how do i get rid of termites???!!!!!!!!?
right, so my friend and i are moving into a log cabin this summer, real cool place, and needs some work which is a good thing. we like the work…. but big problem…. tons of termites! we think… there are small white patches of dust all around the cabin and walls, looks like small wood shavings, like termites are eating it all away. i was wondering if “bombing” the place for a few days would kill them or if it would be useless since they are in the wood. if this would work, please , please let me know. if not, HOW DO I GET RID OF THESE BUGGERS?! without hiring an exterminator

my home has a fake fireplace with 1950’s electric logs. can i make this into a real wood burning fireplace?
house was built in the 40’s and the fireplace was for looks. it is perfect for a real fireplace. it is the real size of a working fireplace only not masonary correct or connected to outside.
I just bought a home and am clearing out some trees, I am afraid of snakes and would like to know of ways to?
I would like to know if there are any special precautions I can take to scare off any snakes from the brush, leaves, and wood piles in my yard before I start moving and clearing all of the debri from my yard. I have moved some rotting logs and leaves by riding my mower to make a bunch of sound in hopes to scare any snakes off. I then sit on the riding mower while it is running while I pushed the logs over with a hoe. Now that I have to go in the area on foot to rake up the leaves and other debri, is there a way I can scare any snakes off so I don’t get bitten before attempting to enter the area? My riding or push mowers will not fit in between the trees to run over the leaves, etc. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I have a huge phobia of snakes of any kind.
What wood yew do?
I live in a log cabin in Cypress Gardens, Florida, right at the corner of Elm and Maple Streets, and have been thinking about a trip to South America. I want to branch out a little more. I am not whole without a wife, and would like to visit the Virgin Forest before they run out. (Hey, when you spruce me up, I’m not so bad.)
But dreaming about it while sitting in my Barcalounger listening to the Oak Ridge Boys on my Kenwood stereo while knocking ash out of my pipe is one thing, actually boarding a ship to do it is another. You know that old chestnut about “be careful what you wish for.”
I thought I would go because my travel agent claims he can get cheap tickets in Laurel, MD, but I worry that a shady deal could lead to some knotty problems. I worry about even being allowed to board, or that I might be made to walk the plank if they find out the price I paid. Wouldn’t you worry? But with a price that good, how hard would you examine the details. Of course, if things went bad, I could sue Mac.
Besides that, I have a cornucopia of other reasons to doubt embarking on such a trip. I am not that tough (you won’t find any people like Old Hickory in my family tree). Lumbering around on a barque for weeks might be difficult, since I am not as limber as I used to be. I would enjoy the beaches at the island stops, but I would still pine for the rest of the Woods family. (If I had a dog, would I be as lonely?) I think I might be barking up the wrong tree.
So, what would you do? Embark, or ax the idea.
