I took your advice and downloaded IE 7. Since then your site has apparently become my home page which is OK but a pain in the rear to have to identify myself eact time I log on. How do I (or you) correct this?

Approximately three years ago or so me and two friends went up to northern Michigan. Being the stupid 13 year olds we were back than we decided to have some fun setting off fireworks underwater in a stream (stupid I know) when suddenly Alex began screaming in pain, crying for his father, he fell into the stream, jumped out and streaked back towards the cabin, literally in tears.

It turned out something had stung him several times all over his body. We have no idea what bit him, all we know is that they probably nest somewhere along a riverbank, possibly in a rotten log, they sting several times in the same spot, and they are the most excruciating thing he has ever felt.

I was wondering if anyone knew what creatures we encountered? I ask because I figure if I ever am in a survival situation and decide to get water from a stream, I want to know how to avoid these terrifyingly painful insects. If you know them, what is the best way to get them off? How can I spot them?
EDIT : The trouble is that Alex said that he had been stung by both wasps and bees and nothing was anywhere near as painful as what attacked him that day.

My friend is a very beautiful girl. She had this huge crush on a guy for 7 months, and at school she saw him hugging another girl, and not in a friendly way. This hurt her alot… I just talked to her on AIM and she is so sad about it… I’m afraid of what she might do to herself… from what I understand, neither of her parents are at home. I’m so worried about her!!! She’s the best friend I’ve ever had… it’s hurting both of us right now and I know it… I wish I could take all of her pain and just put it into myself… just so she could be okay. She left me one last message on AIM that said “I’m done.” and logged off… I’m scared…
I can’t go over to her house or call; my parents don’t like her.
