What is the average cost to build a log home in Colorado?

I am looking to build a log home (or well.. have one built for me) I haven't decided on the land yet but I am looking around the Breckenridge area in the mountains.

I have been researching log home kits… but I would really like some opinions from someone who knows how much, on average, it costs to build a log home from start to finish. I am looking at around 2000 sq ft.

i dont know how much different things would be because you are in colorado, but i am currently having one built in West Virginia. I bought my kit from Appalacian Log Structures ( http://www.applog.com ) The lady sales rep that i talked with was and still is very helpful to us.

I believe that most contractors for houses will charge something in the neighborhood of 1.5x the price of the house. Example: if your kit cost 60,000 dollars, they you can figure them charging close to 100,000 to build it. but be aware that when you buy a log home kit, you do not get interior walls and will still have to have your footers poured and the block foundation layed and the subfloor put up before you can start with your log kit. make sure you take those costs into account.

i am a recent civil engineer graduate and when i learned to do estimating, we were told for a general purpose that a contractor will charge about 1.5 times the amount of the cost of materials. could be more where you live or less (i doubt much less). the best thing to do would be to look up in the phone book a contractor close to you and ask them about it. just tell them you want a ball park figure to go by.

    i hope this helps….
