The costs for a weather tight package is ,000 for Cedar and ,000 for a Pine log home with loft, is this too cheap? Should I be weary, and where should I get more info regarding these homes, since seller will only tell you positive things for a sale.

I don't know a whole lot, but I know they are susceptible to rot, and insect damage. If maintained, they last, but they require "chinking". That is filling the gaps between logs. This is typically too much ladder work for a homeowner. Hiring a contractor is expensive. It usually goes undone, and the house rots. That's my experience in the deep South.
I own a cedar log home. Boracol treatment will take care of insect damage. U need to apply this once before staining. I will tell you right now and every log home owner will tell you this…Log homes area labor of love. Be prepared to re-stain the south and east side of your home every 3 years..5 for the rest. To have this done by someone else will cost big bucks. If i was to do it again I wouldn't have bought the house. Cedar is the better choice since its wood is naturally less likely to rot and resists insects. Talk to a few log home owners before you take this plunge..trust me on this one
